Yesterday as we celebrated the 6th year anniversary of His Excellency in office we also launched the Edo State Residency Card.
As we implement policies, projects and programs to ignite our economy, promote security, empower our people and move us to a first world sub-national we also need to begin to know who our people are, where they to enable planning for the long term.
The Edo Residency Identification Number (RIN) will work like the Social Security number.
Some benefits include:
1. ID will serve as a unique identifier for all citizen interactions and engagement with government at all levels in the State
2. Provide demographics of residents in Edo State for future planning and provision of social amenities
2. Enable identification of vulnerable people in the State and ensure disbursement of government welfare packages to the right people
3. Effectively identify the vulnerable groups for government social benefits.
4. To be used as a verification tool when citizens apply for a state funded loan.
5. EDSG agencies will used the ID to identify people and make sure they aren’t claiming benefits that they aren’t entitled such as disability and special needs packages.
6. Health Centres will use the ID to enrol people for health insurance packages sponsored by the government.
8. Generate demographic insights that will be used for planning for registered Edo citizens in:
I. Education
II. Health
III. Pension benefits
IV. Public safety
V. Infrastructure provisioning
9. Harmonize citizen records with government for easy and personalized service delivery.
